What is News trading restriction
A firm rule: in the minutes around major macro news you cannot open, and sometimes cannot hold, positions; the firm sets the interval length and the news list.
How it works
Example
News at 15:30, restriction of 2 minutes either side: 15:28 to 15:32. An entry at 15:29 breaks the rule. A position opened at 15:25 has to be closed before 15:28 if the restriction covers holding too.
Common mistake
Remembering the rule from hearsay: some firms ban only entries, others holding too, and a breach can cost the profit or the account.
