Glossary
What is Tick size
The smallest price change the exchange accepts: order prices round to this step, and stops and take-profits cannot sit between two neighbouring ticks.
How it works
Example
The tick is 0.1, bid 62,960.0, ask 62,960.1: a one-tick spread. You cannot place a stop at 62,960.05, the exchange takes 62,960.0 or 62,960.1. One tick on 0.5 BTC is worth 0.1 × 0.5 = $0.05.
Common mistake
Counting stop distance without the tick size: on a coin with a coarse tick, one tick is already a visible slice of R.
