What is Account equity
Balance plus the unrealized result of open positions: what the account would be worth if you closed absolutely everything right now at current prices.
How it works
Example
Balance $10,000, one open long up $350, one open short down $120. Equity: 10,000 + 350 − 120 = $10,230.
Common mistake
Watching only the balance: many prop firms measure limits on equity, and a floating loss eats your room while the balance sits still.
