What is Unrealized PnL
The result of an open position at the current price: it changes with every tick and turns into a real result only at the moment you close the position.
How it works
Example
A 0.5 BTC long from 60,000, price at 61,200: (61,200 − 60,000) × 0.5 = +$600. Price pulls back to 60,400 and the gain shrinks to (60,400 − 60,000) × 0.5 = $200.
Common mistake
Spending a floating gain in your head: until you close, it can vanish completely.
