Glossary
What is Balance
The money on the account after closed trades, fees and withdrawals: open positions are not part of it until you close them, so floating results never change it.
How it works
Example
Start $10,000, closed trades of +$300 and −$100, fees for the day $12. Balance: 10,000 + 300 − 100 − 12 = $10,188.
Common mistake
Sizing risk off the balance while a floating loss sits on the account: you have less room than the balance shows.
