What is Wick
The part of a candle beyond its body: price got there but did not hold into the close. A long wick at a level is a common trace of stops being taken.
How it works
BTC 4h, 21.07.2024: sellers attacked, buyers pushed back — a long lower wick.
Example
The candle opened at 67 164, dipped to 65 777 and closed at 67 422: a 1 387 $ lower wick. Price went lower but did not stay there.
Common mistake
Treating a wick through a level as a break: a level is broken only when a body closes beyond it.
